The section of D4 Motorway Jarovce – Ivanka North expands the traffic connection of existing motorways D2 and D1 in the southern and eastern parts of the capital city of Bratislava. Upon completion of this section, transit traffic going to Austria and Hungary, which currently passes the D1 through urban area, will be redirected. In this particular area the D4 will also significantly help the service of the affected area and relieve the villages and existing road network from transit traffic.
The construction of D4 Motorway section Jarovce – Ivanka North begins with a connection to the existing motorway D2 at the interchange "Jarovce”, in Bratislava city territory in Jarovce district. It then continues further north from Jarovce, where it overpasses road III/2046 and railway line 127 Bratislava – Rusovce. At the interchange “Rusovce” the D4 Motorway directs to a bridge over relocated road I/2, continues above Jarovce branch, crosses rowing and canoeing track and over the river Danube. On the left bank of the river Danube it passes along a scaffold bridge over protected territory of European importance SKÚEV 0295 Biskupické Luhy (NATURA 2000), outside the Gajc nature reservation. Carrying on, the D4 Motorway route bypasses the gravel mining area of Podunajské Biskupice from the southern and eastern side, then at the interchange "Ketelec" the D4 crosses planned expressway R7.
